Janice Robinson Pennington

Like her partners, Misty Farris and Laurie Meggesin, Janice Robinson Pennington opted to prepare herself for life by obtaining a bachelors degree in English. As with so many others, this decision necessitated the investment in a graduate degree of some sort, and Janice seized upon law school. When she graduated from the University of Texas School of Law, Janice moved to Dallas, Texas to become the sixth lawyer at what was then a very small firm representing plaintiffs in toxic tort litigation.

After seven seemingly endless years of litigation, Janice finally found her calling in her former firm’s appellate section, where she successfully briefed and argued appeals in the federal circuits and in the intermediate and highest courts of a number of states. From 1995 to 2000, Janice was a member of the Amicus Curiae Committee of the American Association for Justice (then the Association of Trial Lawyers of America). In addition to her appellate practice, Janice also spent years writing and arguing summary judgment motions and responses, limine and post trial motions, jury charges and other trial related briefing in a nationwide asbestos practice.

For the last several years, Janice has focused much of her time on writing content for a number of law firms representing plaintiffs and whistleblowers in litigation against companies that place corporate profits over human safety. The main thing she doesn’t miss when doing such work is cite form.  Janice continues to divide her time between her appellate and motion practice and creating blog entries for legal websites.
